MOTHER.
ADVOCATE.
HOPE DEALER.
Hey ya'll!
My name is Kamrin Muhammad and I want to be the next board member of the Rockford Public School district. I am a native of Rockford IL and I currently live with my 15-year-old son, in subdistrict C which includes the following schools: Welsh, West View, Conklin, and West. I work for the Rockford Park District at Washington Park Community Center and I possess a special passion for youth development.
For the last 10 years I have assisted youth with obtaining academic support, community involvement, mentorship, and enrichment opportunities. I prioritize philanthropy in my life and I have volunteered for many local organizations such as KFACT (Keeping Families and Communities Together), Habitat for Humanity, Gigi's Playhouse, the Wabongo Leadership Council, and the local chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) to name a few.
I strive to bring a sense of belonging and connection, between our Northwest families and the Rockford Public School district. There needs to be more community engagement from the Board of Education, parent participation and diversity throughout the district. My goal is to help elminate the gaps in these areas. Also we need to explore more options to properly support students and staff during this pandemic, and work more with community partners that provide direct youth services.
I will bring relevant experience, a fresh perspective, creative problem solving skills, and representation to the board that is long overdue. I hope that you will vote for me in the General Elections on April 6th, 2021!
